Happy New Year Pretty Nerdy Gang! We hope you had a wonderful holiday season and are ready to dive into 2023 with us. We’re pretty excited to see what the new year brings, especially the line up of anime’s that are coming in 2023! We’ve decided to list out the top 10 anime’s that us Pretty Nerdy co-directors are excited for:
10. The Rising of the Shield Hero (Season 3):
This is one of Em’s favourite animes, and she’s super excited for Season 3. The rising of the shield hero, is a tale of Naofumi Iwatani, who was summoned to a parallel world to become the world cardinal hero. It’s quite a tale of adventure and fantasy, and although the release date hasn’t officially been announced, Em is pretty excited to go on a binge of the first two season before jumping in to the third!
9. Demon Slayer (Season 3) :
I’m sure this anime doesn’t need an introduction, since the movie did so well! But for those who don’t know, Demon slayer follows the story of Tanjirō Kamado who, after his entire family is slaughtered by demons, sets out to become a demon hunter to avenge their deaths and protect his surviving younger sister from meeting the same fate. The series is set in Taishō-era Japan and features a blend of action, horror, and supernatural elements. Both Em and Nish are looking forward to this season, after binge reading the manga last year!
8. Dr Stone (Season 3):
Dr Stone, follows Senku, a brilliant scientist who was turned to stone at the age of 17 and wakes up thousands of years later to find that the world has been transformed. He sets out to restore the world back to its former glory, with the help of science, friends and his own ingenuity. Along the way, he meets other people who were also turned to stone and they join forces to rebuild society from the ground up.
7. Who Made Me a Princess (Season 1):
Em is a massive manwha reader, and to see one of her favourites stories get animated has been quite exciting news for her! Who Made Me a Princess is adapted of a popular Korean Webtoon, which is based on a web novel of the same name. It follows the story of Athanasia de Alger Obelia, a South Korean girl who reincarnated into the fictional story, The Lovely Princess, as the abandoned princess of the Obelian Empire.
6. Attack on Titan The Final Season (Part 3):
Following the story of Eren Yeager and his fight on the rest of humankind. The final season of the anime adaptation, which is set to air in 2023, is highly anticipated by fans as it is expected to reveal the truth behind the Titans and bring the story to its epic conclusion. Its full of intense action, well-developed characters, and thought-provoking themes, Attack on Titan is a must-watch for any fan of the genre.
5. One Punch Man (Season 3):
The story follows the life of Saitama, an extremely overpowered superhero who can defeat any enemy with a single punch. With it’s incredibly unique character, Saitama’s interactions with pretty much any character in this anime is full of humour and is a must watch for any anime fan! The third season of the anime adaptation, which is set to air in 2023, is highly anticipated by fans as it is expected to introduce new villains and continue the story of Saitama's journey as a hero.
4. Mashle Magic & Muscles (Season 1):
Set in a world where magic is real and follows the misadventures of Mashle, a young man with no magical powers who dreams of becoming the strongest mage in the world. Despite being constantly looked down upon by his fellow magic users, Mashle refuses to give up on his dream and trains his body to the limit to compensate for his lack of magical abilities. The anime adaptation, which is set to air in 2023, is a must-watch for anyone who enjoys the thrill of an underdog story and the satisfaction of seeing a hardworking hero triumph over their seemingly insurmountable odds. Plus, let's be real, who wouldn't want to see a muscle-bound dude with a fire in his heart and a determined glint in his eye take down some haughty magic snobs? It's gonna be a blast!
3. Why Raeliana Ended up at the Duke’s Mansion (Season 1):
A romantic comedy about Raeliana, a young woman who is summoned to a different world and becomes the bride of the most eligible and scheming Duke Noah Wynknight. As she navigates the politics and scheming of the noble society, Raeliana finds herself constantly at odds with the Duke and his family, but somehow manages to win their hearts and bring joy and happiness to their lives. Set to air in 2023, it is a must-watch for anyone who enjoys the comedy of misunderstandings, the romance of two people, and the heartwarming moments of growth and trust. It's one of Em's favourite manwhas so she'll be posting about it closer to the time!
2. Jujutsu Kaisen (Season 2):
The story follows a high school student named Yūji Itadori, who becomes involved in the world of jujutsu sorcerers after swallowing a demon finger (yeah, it’s kinda gross to see him swallow fingers not going to lie). The Sorcerors are sworn to protect the world from evil curses, and Yūji becomes a key member of their ranks as he battles against powerful and malevolent curses that threaten humanity. We can expect high-stakes battles, lots of Sakuna appearances, and a good ol' fashioned monster bashing. Plus, with a main character who's a bit of a goofball and his mentor, the infamous Gojo Satoru (who features on one of our products!), this isn’t an anime you want to miss! Get ready for some serious jujutsu action!
1. Solo Leveling (season 1):
The story follows Jin-Woo, a low-level hunter who gains the ability to "level up" in the real world and becomes the strongest hunter on the planet. Jin-Woo sets out to uncover the truth behind his newfound powers and protect the world from powerful threats, with the help of other skilled hunters and his own quick wits. The anime adaptation, which is set to air in 2023, is a must-watch for anyone who enjoys action, adventure, and the thrill of watching a hero kick butt and take names. We’re really excited to watch this one, considering how much good things we’ve heard about the manwha!
